Our Story

The Richardson family has been in the water business since 1939, when Dad "Rich" Richardson migrated to Washington from the Kansas oil fields. He settled in Parkland, Washington, where he purchased 7 ½ acres, and started a water well drilling business. It should be noted that today the same property houses the corporate offices. Neil Richardson, one of three sons, took over the drilling company in 1955, and still oversees the operation through his only son, who took over in 1995. In 1962, Neil started a water utility company, which has since grown to the largest privately owned water utility in the state of Washington, serving a population of over 35,000.

Richardson Bottling Company beginning as a dream of the Richardson family in 1985 became reality in 1989, when the first bottle was sold under the brand name of Mountain Mist. From a simple desire to honestly market a water which was truly natural and pure, Richardson Bottling Company, through its two on-site artesian wells, has accomplished just that. Nothing added or nothing removed, just pure and natural water.

Richardson Bottling plant, located near Graham, Washington, beginning with just a few hundred square feet of bottling area and one bottle filler. Mountain Mist has grown to its present  45,000 square foot  bottling and warehouse area, including completely automated bottle lines consisting of three filler/cappers for gallons, 2 ½ gallons, as well as  P.E.T. bottles and palletization. Distribution of Mountain Mist and other contract private labels, is in 7 western states and internationally to Russia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Japan.

From our family to yours, Mountain Mist, more than just another bottled water.
